Our 2018 Summer Snapshot Series tees have arrived! This year’s Summer Snapshot Series Competition winners shared in $4,500 worth of prizes and had their picturesque beach snaps printed on 100% Australian cotton tees.
The six winning images were chosen by this year’s Snapshot judging panel; our very own Menswear Design Manager, Clint, Sydney design studio Blacklist, and Jeanswest Creative Director, Andrew Henderson. We sat down with the six winners to discuss the inspiration behind their snaps and how it feels to see them printed onto a Jeanswest tee…
I was encouraged to enter the Jeanswest Snapshot competition, I’d never entered a competition before, so I was sceptical about my chances of winning. I couldn’t be happier with the result, and I can’t wait to wear my tee with pride! This photo was taken under the boardwalk at beautiful Palm Cove Beach, Far North Queensland. It was a sunny morning, and I decided to go for a walk and a quick swim, after my swim I sat under the jetty to get some shade and looked out to the stunning crystal-clear waters. The view was too good and I just couldn’t miss the photo opportunity!
Not too long ago we went on a family trip down to Esperance, Western Australia. There were 9 of us all together. While we were there my Dad and I went on a scenic flight in a little plane out to the Pink Lake, we had a fun competition with the aim of seeing who could take the best photo! The scenery down there was so beautiful, it was hard not to take so many photos. My image that won the Jeanswest Snapshot Competition stood out to my family because of the likeness to delicate lace spread over the top of the Ombre coloured waves that were gently rolling in. It feels quite surreal having my image printed onto a Jeanswest Tee, I’m so excited to see the collection in stores, and to see people wearing them! Thank you Jeanswest for this amazing experience.
I had just received new GoPro camera to capture photos for a blog I wanted to start, I have a large variety of birds that visit, as well as a family of Kookaburras that adopted me. I was telling my friend Ian (he’s the surfer in my photo) how stoked I was with the results of the camera, and he asked if it would work in the surf! So, we decided to hit Tamarama Beach early before first light, a cup of coffee and off we went. It was bloody cold. The surf was great and we had the place to ourselves. After a few waves, I ditched my board to go back out with my camera. One of the shots just came together perfectly, it’s my screensaver on my laptop, and when my sister saw it she encouraged me to enter the Jeanswest Snapshot Series Competition, and WOW I’m so thrilled to be in the top 6 with over 1,000 entries, thank you Jeanswest for this amazing opportunity!
The inspiration behind my photography is to show people what I can see, by freezing moments of water and light in the ocean. The winning image was taken on a surf beach in the Mornington Peninsula last summer just before sunrise. I took the image in the ocean with my camera encased in a Carbon Fibre water housing, with the wave breaking right in front of me. I can’t wait to see the collection, it feels great knowing my image will be on a JW tee, and hopefully many people will be wearing it.

My inspiration for my image is the beautiful rugged New Zealand west coast, I took the image at Manu Bay which is a world-renowned surfing destination and is an excellent spot for surf photography. I entered the Jeanswest competition because I felt the image would look amazing on a t-shirt never expecting to be a winner! I am incredibly excited to see the finished product and cannot wait to see it in store.

I’m a dreamer and an avid lover of pictures, and as an amateur photographer I always have my mobile phone on me to snap away. My first image was captured on the Coral Sea off the coast of Cairns and holds precious memories for me. This image was taken in the afternoon on a cruise ship down at the ocean. The second image of the palms, was taken at evening sunset, on a beautiful relaxing break with my family in Cairns, Far North Queensland. My favourite part of the day, looking out on the evening skyline as it’s ever changing nature always captures me. I am super excited about the collection, it was a surreal moment when I received the call. Even more special when I was told that not one, but two of my images had been selected. I’m also a massive Blacklist fan, I love their work. Thank you Jeanswest for the great prizes and for giving me the opportunity to showcase my creative side.
