Here we caught up with the winners to discuss their winning summer snaps, the inspiration behind them and how it feels to have them printed on to a Jeanswest tee.
I first saw the Snapshot Competition on Facebook and i’ve always been interested in photography and believed I had some good shots to enter with. When I took this image, I was walking along the beach at sunrise with my dog, he was running around enjoying himself and I started to capture the moment. It was one of those shots you don’t plan, but it just came out awesome!Jason Neal
I have a love for photography and thought the Jeanswest Snapshot competition would be a fun challenge for me. I had gotten up quite early to head to my local beach “Moonee Beach” to capture the sunrise. I was messing around with some different lighting and angles and just as the sun was starting to rise over the water I spotted two keen surfers heading out and thought what better way to express a common love for the beach and summer. What a perfect start to the day!Emma Finch
Winning the Snapshot series in 2015 prompted me to enter again this year. It’s such a wonderful way to combine my love of fashion and photography while being part of such an iconic series of tees. I chose this picture because it has Summer all over it. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world, or what season it is, crystal water brings a hot, summer vibe that instantly relaxes you. I loved the light reflecting in the water and captured the picture to keep the moment alive. Just looking at it brings memories of salt air and a beautiful, relaxing day with my family – a summer we all love.Jodie Turnball
My mum tagged me in the Snapshot Competition knowing that Summer and photography are my thing. I was enjoying my favourite time of day, drinking a coffee and watching the surfers do their thing and decided to capture the moment. The twin palm trees and blue skies complemented this feeling, as they looked like they were holding hands enjoying the sunshine. These are my favourite things about living on the coast.Ali Winter
I took this photo when I was visiting my cousin in Newcastle, it was my final day there and we were taking photos down by the ocean baths. I absolutely loved the colours captured in the water. I was trying to take a photo of the seagull by the edge of the pool and then he took off; but I wasn’t disappointed with the shot! It makes me so happy because it reminds me of the incredible long weekend spent with my favourite people! Long weekend adventures are definitely good for the soul!Michaela Hewitt
My daughter and granddaughters encouraged me to enter the Snapshot competition as Summer and photography are two of my favourite pastimes. The sunrise surfers image was captured on a beautiful morning in Ocean Grove, Victoria. I chose this photo as it typifies an Australian Summer’s day. My other photograph are storm clouds gathering over Port Douglas, Queensland. I chose this photo as it is such a contrast to the first photo, it was hot and humid and it accentuates the vast difference in the landscapes in our amazing country. Dianne Rose
A few of my images were chosen, here are my inspirations behind them. I always drive past this Ferris Wheel and when it’s contrasted against a blue sky it’s so colourful and fun. I am also very inspired by the colours the sky produces, there is something so dreamy about sunset pastels. Finally, to me Palm Trees scream Summer and I love how this one fills the frame with all its palm tree goodness.Ali Winter
As a loyal Jeanswest customer, I am thrilled to see my picture become part of the Snapshot Tee collection and I am so excited to wear something that I helped create. When I captured this image the sun was setting amongst a beautiful back drop, I wanted to add an extra effect by making a big splash, because Summer is here and what’s not to love about Summer?Anh Du
It was hard narrowing down my entry to one photograph that captured the true essence of an Aussie summer, but I felt this one was perfect. Summertime to me is relaxing near the beach, watching the sunset and having a cocktail in hand. This photo always reminds me of summer holiday memories.Amy Richardson
