Meet some of our Jeanswest Team Getting Behind Movember

We sat down with the stars of our latest Movember campaign (and members of our very own JW team), Steph, Dan and Chris, to discuss the importance of Movember, and how it felt being in front of the camera…

Meet Mo Sista, Steph. She’s been with Jeanswest for just over 3 years and is the Executive Assistant to our CEO, Mark. Steph started her JW journey as our receptionist and jumped at the opportunity to take the next step in her career. Here’s what she had to say about starring in the Movember campaign…

Why did you want to get involved in the Movember campaign?

I’m normally fairly camera shy, but representing Jeanswest in support a great cause like Movember was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. I am proud to work for a company that supports important causes.

Why is Movember important to you?

We all have mates, dads, cousins, brothers, uncles that we care greatly about, and it’s important to raise awareness on important men’s health issues to ensure we keep the men we love, in our lives for long as possible. Movember is an amazing worldwide organisation, raising funds to support ground-breaking programs that help change the way men are treated and supported. They’re aiming to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25% by the year 2030! WOW!

What was it like it starring in our campaign?

It was definitely a step out of my comfort zone. Fortunately, I got to work alongside my “Mo Bros” Dan and Chris, and the amazing JW Marketing team who made me feel relaxed and at ease. We all had heaps of fun and a good laugh. Not to mention it was great to have my hair and makeup done by an amazing professional to make me feel super glam for the photoshoot – if only I could have that every day!

MeetSteph

Next up, Dan, Manager of our Launceston store. After 7 years working in hospitality, Dan thought it was time for a change and joined Jeanswest crew – needless to say, he hasn’t looked back. Find out why the Movember foundation is so important to him…

Why did you want to get involved in the Movember campaign?

It’s great to see anybody getting involved with Movember, and to see an industry and company predominantly occupied by women supporting men of the world is a great thing.

Why is Movember important to you?

I am a big advocate for mental health for any person, having gone through some major anxiety and depression myself after some personal battles I know how hard it is. I’m extremely proud to be part of a campaign that hits so close to home.

What was it like it starring in our campaign?

It was brilliant to be given the star treatment with Jeanswest 😊 to have the hair, the makeup and the wardrobe all supplied was a great experience. It’s a very different side of the coin to selling the product. But I think I could get used to being a famous model…

Have you got any mo-maintenance tips to share?

Don’t give up! My mo’ situation has always been very average. But just keep on growing, trim regularly and it will eventually happen!

MeetDanandChris

Introducing Chris, Manager of our Eastland store. Chris has been providing top-notch shopping experiences to JW customers since last Movember. His aim is to make sure everyone leaves the store looking and feeling as good as his mo’!

Why did you want to get involved in the Movember campaign?

I wanted to be involved to help promote the importance of men’s health, no matter what age.

Why is Movember important to you?

Movember is important to me as I know first-hand that we (men) aren’t proactive with looking after ourselves. I think Movember is a fun way to draw attention to men’s health and start a conversation that may not have happened otherwise.

What was it like it starring in our campaign?

It was an experience! It was such a laugh working Daniel and Steph, plus stepping outside my comfort zone with all these eyes looking at me.

Have you got any mo-maintenance tips to share?

I take 10 minutes before bed to “groom my broom”. I use a specially designed comb to detangle my stash, brushing in a downward motion and remembering to flick the wrist after each stroke. Not really! I just have a lot of patience to get it this far.
