Father’s Day is just around the corner and each day we’re introducing one of our favourite Dads. Meet Kingi, hubby to Caro, dynamic duo from The Block 2015, and Dad to two beautiful children; Hendrix and Halia.

First, let’s talk Dad fashion! What’s your go-to outfit for when you’re out and about with your family? Do you have a hot tip – a Kingi style hack – that you can gift us with?
My go-to fashion for the weekends would be the good old shorts and T-shirt, I really don’t go too far away from that style! I mainly wear black or dark colours as I’m sure Caro will agree, I can’t seem to keep lighter colours clean!
What’s your most-loved item in your wardrobe and why?
Believe it or not I am known in our family as a bit of a hoarder, and I like to keep a lot of clothes that either don’t fit me anymore or I just don’t wear… but I MIGHT wear them so I just keep them just in case! My most-loved items would be the old trusty denim shorts and basketball singlets. I think they are both easy to wear and I don’t have to iron them, so win/win for me!
We know you like a laugh… what’s one of the more humorous moments of fatherhood you’ve experienced so far?
Recently after our son was born we were talking about how babies are made with our daughter (Halia is 5 years old). We have always been an open family and don’t really sugar coat much but this was a challenge! Our daughter likes to ask a million questions (like most 5 year olds) so you really have to think on your feet with her as she remembers everything! She wanted to know how the ‘tadpoles’ actually got in Mum’s belly. We hadn’t explained this part, and I thought I had artfully dodged her questions until she says to me, “Well Dad you didn’t grow the baby, Mum did all the hard work of growing him and you just laid there and did nothing.” Caro has never let me hear the end of this! The girls always stick together in my household, so it’s great I have my son on board now and someone on my team finally!
Father’s Day is just around the corner, do you have any secret pressie hopes? What will be happening in your household this Sunday?
I’m not much of a present man and I’m lucky my wife knows this. A great Sunday breakfast with the family is all I ask for.
There are surely many, but what’s an important life lesson you’ve learnt that really resonates with you and that you hope to pass on?
If you try you risk failure, if you don’t you ensure it.
Lastly, being a father, you have a reputation to live up to… can you leave us with your best Dad joke?
